As a public school system, we welcome all students who live within the Sunnybrook 171 boundaries and meet state age and health requirements. For specific enrollment information please look through the information below. If you have addtional questions please contact the main office at Nathan Hale for children in grades PreK - 4th Grade or Heritage for children in grades 5th - 8th. If you need to find out which school your child will attend, please use the School Finder to look up the attendance boundaries for your address. 

  • Enrollment can be initiated by a parent, legal guardian, or an authorized representative of the student. Please ensure that all required documentation is provided to complete the enrollment process.

  • Sunnybrook School District #171 requires residency verification annually for ALL students. Parents/guardians must bring residency documents to the school when registering their child.

    Residency verification must include one of the following with current address:

    • Mortgage Papers
    • Current Real Estate Tax Bill
    • Signed HUD Closing Statement
    • Signed Lease with Residents’ Name(s) listed along with contact phone or email of landlord. Expired leases will NOT be accepted. Lease must be current as of the start of the school year that you are registering for.

     

    One of the following: (All items must be valid & current with address in which you are registering)

    • State Of Illinois License Plate Registration
    • Proof Of Home, Apartment Or Auto Insurance Papers
    • Illinois Department Of Public Aid Medicaid Card With Expiration Date
    • Most Recent Utility Bill (Gas, Water, Electric, Cable – One Only)

     

    Also,

    • Government Issued ID such as a State Of Illinois Driver’s License with address in which you are registering

     

    All of the above must show the current address within School District #171 boundaries. Please understand that no student, regardless of how long he/she has resided in the district, will be allowed to register or attend class until the verification documents have been received. If the students show up on the first day of school without having been registered, they will be sent home.  Illegally enrolling your child in a school is a class c misdemeanor.  The District reserves the right to ask for additional documentation for proof of residency at any time.

    • Eye Exam
    • Dental Examination

     

    Enter 6th Grade

    • Health Exam
    • Complete Immunization Record
    • Dental Examination

     

    New Enrollment to the Distirct

    • Health Exam
    • Complete Immunization Record
    • Eye Exam

     

    For copies the needed examination forms please visit our Health Services page.

    1. Visit our PowerSchool enrollment site to start the enrollmnet process.
    2. Once the office has reviewed your enrollment request they will contact you to make an appoitmnet to come into the distirct to provide your residency documents and child’s birth certificate.
    3. Once residency is verified you will recive an email with directions including credientials to log into PowerSchool to complete the full registration packet.
    4. Once registration is approved you will be contacted by the office with the earliest possible start date for your child.

  • An affidavit of residency may be used if you are an adult who has assumed responsibility for a pupil and provide the pupil with a fixed, night-time abode, for reasons other than access to the education programs of the school district. This should not be used, however, if you are natural or adoptive parents of the pupil, have been granted court-ordered custody or guardianship, or are receiving public aid on behalf of the pupil.  Note: Providing false information on a affidavit of residency is a Class C misdemeanor.

    • PreK - $65.00
    • Kindergarten - $70.00
    • 1st - 4th Grades - $75.00
    • 5th - 8th Grades - $80.00 + Chromebook Insurance $25.00
     
  • In Illinois children must be 5 years of age by September 1st to enroll in Kindergarten for that school year.
